What Is A Casting Card?

Casting Cards: A casting card is a model's personal business card. Casting directors do not allow any model or actor to audition for any job without them. Professional models leave a casting card at all auditions that they attend. Cards are required at all professional castings, including all auditions listed on the Casting Board. Be sure to have a current phone number on your card so that the casting director can reach you during daytime work hours. Models may also submit casting cards through the mail to be included in auditions that you cannot attend in person. Living in a remote area, or being confined to school or job commitments no longer hinders models and actors who want to participate in national castings. Your casting cards will allow you to audition anywhere in the country, while you continue to live and work in your local community.

What Is The Difference Between The Black & White And The Color Card?

Model's Color Casting Card: The color casting card is used by models to turn in at all fashion auditions for MODELING JOBS including runway, magazine, and catalogue work. The modeling clients are only concerned with the model's look & therefore need no resume.
Model's Black & White Resume Headshots: The black and white card is used by models to turn in at all auditions for ACTING JOBS including television, film, & commercial. In addition to a models look, tv and film clients wish to see a models resume and special skills. Models may be hired for commercials in both speaking and non-speaking roles. Non-speaking roles require the model to move naturally, and demonstrate relaxed body language in front of the camera.

Where do Models Make Casting Cards?

Models must first choose their favorite photo to send to a printer to print on the front of their casting cards. Stay away from companies that have hidden set up fees, long turnover times, and poor quality duplication. If a model chooses to reproduce marketing material on their home computer, agency standards for card stock, logo, and letter font must match the sample card you have been given exactly. How Many Casting Cards Will I need?

Because modeling is a hobby to some and a professional career to others, the number needed will vary. Most models participate in at least 1-2 castings per week, which equals 100 - 150 per year. Be prepared to leave your casting card, headshot, and resume with the client for later callbacks. A model caught without a casting card is like a cheerleader without a pom-pom! Also, remember to always carry your portfolio with you at all auditions.

What Name Should Appear At The Top Of My Cards?

Model Productions is broken into three divisions... our High Fashion Division, Professional Talent division, and Development Division. The sample card you were given shows the exact words and layout for your divisions casting cars. Our name at the top of your card is our "stamp of approval" allowing you to participate in auditions that are closed to the general public. Following the layout of your sample is mandatory to avoid confusion on castings/closed sets.
